SHORT STORIES

Many of these stories have been collected  from the Borders of Scotland.  Some have been written anew to reflect such stories.
Folk have told me they had heard some of them before, when they were children. There is a long tradition of such tales being told beside the fire on the long cold Borders evenings.
I thought that a few illustrations might not come amiss, so I took the liberty of adding those in myself.
Some stories might be good to read twice, or out loud to others who are unable to escape.  Though it is in the nature of making a collection that some things will be good, some bad and some indifferent.
